FARM STORY

Thank you for your interest in the farm, my name is Victoria and I grew up here. The farm story starts back in 1982 when Dennis Huneault and my mother, Margaret Legris started Dacre Nursery. For over 25 years, Dennis and Margaret grew and sold countless annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs to plant lovers across the Ottawa Valley. Dacre Nursery was a hive of activity every season. While I didn’t realize it at the time, I was lucky to have grown up in the business where I spent many hours after school and in the summer transplanting, watering, and helping customers.

The business eventually came to a close and the farm took a well deserved rest around 2012.

In 2021, my husband, Sam and I moved back to the farm. I had known for years that I wanted to return to agriculture in some form. So, when I began to learn more about the expanding domestic cut flower industry in Canada, starting a flower farm seemed like a perfect fit.

The current reality is that the vast majority of cut flowers sold in Canada are not grown in Canada. It’s time to change that, one bouquet at a time.
